Health and Safety Executive officials have been made aware of the death of a male employee in his twenties who died following an incident at an industrial unit owned by recycling company William Tracey Group in Paisley, Scotland.
Emergency services attended the scene in Paisley but the man died from his injuries a short time later
Police Scotland confirmed they received a call at around 12:30 pm yesterday (March 28) “after a 28-year-old man had been injured at an industrial unit on Burnbrae Road, Linwood, Paisley”.
A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended but the man died from his injuries a short time later. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The Procurator Fiscal is an independent public prosecutor in Scotland, who investigates all sudden and potentially suspicious deaths in Scotland based on evidence submitted by the police.
In a statement, William Tracey Group said it would be looking to support the employee’s family after the incident.
‘Saddened’
A spokesman said: “William Tracey Group is deeply saddened to confirm that an employee has died as a result of an accident at our Burnbrae Road site, Linwood.
“We are working closely with the police and our Health and Safety team as they investigate the incident. Our first thoughts are with our employee’s family and colleagues as we support them at this tragic time.”
In its statement, the HSE said officials attended the scene and will work with the police in a joint investigation.
“The Health and Safety Executive was made aware of this incident and inspectors attended the scene. We are working closely with Police Scotland on a joint investigation in to this incident,” a spokesperson said.
