Derbyshire-based metal recycling and waste management company, Ward, has invested £1.25 million in four material handlers.
Ward, which has a nationwide remit, says it purchased the new Liebherr LH40 M machines for the movement of various materials including metal, wood, plastic and general waste around its sites across the Midlands.

The final machine was delivered on its site at Ilkeston, Derbyshire, last month “to support the infrastructure improvements and installation of a Metso pre-shredder”.
The company, which has six sites, claims this has now increased its processing capability to over 500,000 tonnes a year of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal of all grades.
Noise reductions
Commenting on the machines, Donald Ward, commercial manager at Ward, said: “Liebherr LH40’s are considered best in class for performance, safety and handling capacity. Their ERC System (energy recovery system) ensures we get the maximum handling capacity, while lowering the overall fuel consumption by up to 30%, as well as reducing pollutant and noise emissions.”
Mr Ward added: “We’ve made the investment to increase the amount of materials we are able to move around sites, improve processing times and to provide the best equipment we can for our staff to make the job as safe and comfortable as it can be.”
The delivery of the equipment comes after significant investment over the last two years with a complete office renovation at Ilkeston, opening a dedicated deep sea dock at Immingham for the expansion of its metal recycling capabilities, plus launching a new textile recycling service WARDRobe.
