Hazardous waste firm Tradebe has announced the acquisition of Avanti Environmental Group from Stericycle Inc.
This is the second acquisition for the company in 2018, following the acquisition of laboratory waste specialist, Labwaste, earlier this year (see letsrecycle.com story).
Avanti operates treatment and transfer sites in England and Scotland, supported by a fleet of vehicles. The company employs over 140 people.
Assets
Its assets include an advanced transfer station in North West England, waste services in the Scottish Central Belt and the Highlands, niche services for the laboratory and automotive markets, and a plastics recycling division. The services are supported by an established UK infrastructure of transport routes and vehicles.
Tradebe said the move is part of its strategic business growth plans, which are focussed on “strengthening and enhancing” the company’s position in the UK hazardous waste market.
Commenting on the announcement, Tradebe treatment, incineration and recovery director, Brian Mulholland, said: “This is an important acquisition for Tradebe as the two companies are complementary. The acquisition will accelerate growth of all our UK operations and will significantly increase Tradebe’s ever-growing waste transfer network. Avanti is a very attractive acquisition due to the high calibre of employees, capabilities and the strong synergies to be gained from this acquisition.”
‘Aligned’
Tradebe UK chief executive, Rob Molenaar added: “The combination of Tradebe, Labwaste and Avanti will provide for a strong platform capable of servicing and meeting the changing demands of our customers. The companies are aligned in terms of service operations, capabilities and geographical reach. This partnership will bring together some of the most technically minded, innovative people in the UK’s waste industry.
“The companies have a strong sustainability culture, customer service and health and safety ethos; together we will continue to drive high standards throughout the industry. We also very much welcome the Avanti team to the Tradebe organisation and look forward to the continued success of the combined organisation.”
