There have been three key senior appointments in the waste industry in recent weeks, with Biffa, Biogen and Coral Products all announcing new arrivals.
Biffa has appointed Roger Wright, the former Marks & Spencer head of technical packaging, as its waste strategy and packaging manager.
The newly created role will focus on working with packaging producers and Biffa’s customers to “develop more sustainable packaging”.
Mr Wright, who has been at Marks & Spencer since 2011, has more than 25 years’ experience in the packaging industry with previous roles at Sainsbury’s and DS Smith.
Speaking after his appointment was announced today (23 July), Mr Wright said: “Sustainable packaging solutions are clearly high on businesses’ agendas across all sectors, and working for Biffa offers an exciting opportunity to influence a huge range of businesses and brands on their packaging decisions. I look forward to working closely with Biffa’s customers to develop packaging that is innovatively smarter, recyclable and more sustainable.”
Biogen
Meanwhile, Biogen, the anaerobic digestion portfolio platform owned by Ancala Partners LLP, has welcomed Martin Johnson as its chief executive.
Mr Johnson joined the business on 29 June, and has held senior leadership positions in a broad range of companies such as Mars, Heathrow Airport, Adelie Foods and BMI Healthcare.
Speaking after his appointment was announced earlier this month, Mr Johnson said:“I am delighted to join Biogen at an exciting time in its development as a sector leader and I am looking forward to leading the business to reach its full potential over the coming years.”
Coral Products
Coral Products, a supplier of recycling boxes and food waste bins to local authorities, also announced this month that it has appointed Jonathan Wragg as a sales development team member .
Mr Wragg is a “specialist within the food waste and recycling industry”, Coral Products says, and he will be focusing predominantly on food waste and recycling products, as well as looking to develop new innovative products and partnerships.
“I come to Coral with an in-depth experience of working with local authorities and waste contractors,” he said.
Mr Wragg added: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Coral and feel incredibly excited to be able to add value to their very strong existing waste and environmental offering.”
