One of the UK’s longstanding suppliers of heavy equipment for use in the metals recycling sector, Lefort UK, has opened a new head office in Berkshire.
At the same time, the business is celebrating 50 years of UK operations. The Belgian-based parent company explained that it is 50 years ago this year that Peter Chapman, who started the UK operation, sold his first Lefort shear/baler.
In a statement the company said: “Thus, began a strong partnership between the Chapman family and metal recycling equipment manufacturer Lefort. Half a century of hard work and outstanding customer service has culminated in the official opening of Lefort UK’s new head office in Downmill Road, Bracknell.”
New chapter
The official opening of the refurbished facility took place recently and saw Peter Chapman, who has now retired, cut a red ribbon to signify “the beginning of a new chapter in the Lefort UK story”, the company said.
The new building features a more extensive parts warehouse, larger sales and service offices, a workshop, a classroom for technical training and a customer meeting area.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by the current staff of Lefort UK including the UK managing director, David Chapman, (Peter’s son), as well as senior staff from the Lefort Head office in Belgium, including Olivier Lefevre, Lefort SA’s Commercial & Marketing Manager, Pascale Vogt, from the Lefort Academy and member’s of the Lefort family, Antoine and Julien Lefort.
Koloss
Lefort’s latest developments, said David Chapman, include the new Koloss range of machinery includes 1000T, 1300T, 1450T and 1600T shear force machines with either the Lefort patented wrap-around box or the new improved wide opening side compression boxes.
He added: “The Trax range of machinery is also proving to be popular with the range topping 1000T Trax shear baler and the versatile BR1500 Trax shredder.”
