Ellgia welcomes business development manager
Cambridgeshire commercial waste business, Ellgia Group, is welcoming Dean Newton as business development manager.
Mr Newton has over 25 years commercial experience in both waste and transport industry, having held several key management positions within a number of leading waste companies, including DHL and Cleanaway.
Ellgia said, in his new role, Mr Newton will be responsible for contributing to the company’s overall business development strategy and will play a key role in delivering the company’s growth goals.
Cawleys appoints board member
Waste management firm Cawleys has announced the appointment of Anna Cawley, director of customer service, to its board.
Ms Cawley is the third generation of the family to work in the business. Her great uncle co-founded the business in 1947 and her father is current chairman. Ms Cawley has worked in the business since 2001 and became head of customer service in 2011.
Headquartered in Luton, Cawleys employs 200 staff with an operational footprint across south east England, providing resource management services solely to business customers.
Re-Gen’s sales director wins award
Northern Irish firm, Re-Gen Waste’s director of product sales, Celine Grant, has been awarded Best Exporter at the Women in Business Awards 2017.
The annual awards ceremony, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Belfast on Thursday 9 November, celebrates the success of female entrepreneurs, business leaders and senior managers making a valuable contribution to the Northern Ireland economy.
The award for Best Exporter was sponsored by Aer Lingus and recognises the businesswoman that successfully demonstrates high levels of export turnover and a continued export growth plan.
Ms Grant is chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management and board member of the Recycling Association.
RVS appoints operations manager
Gloucestershire-based Refuse Vehicle Solutions (RVS) has appointed Mark Robinson as operations manager to support its engineering team.
Mr Robinson, who was previously fleet & workshop operations manager at Swindon borough council, started his career over 27 years ago as an apprentice technician and worked his way up the ranks.
RVS supplies new ‘off the shelf’ refuse vehicles and quality used refuse trucks, as well as specialist remanufacturing services, to the public and private sector. The company provides the full range of support services including repairs, maintenance, vehicle hire, contract hire, parts and finance.
WRA’s David Laing retires
Recycling specialist David Laing has announced he is retiring from the board of the Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA).
Mr Laing was a pioneer of waste wood recycling in Scotland in the 1990s, installing a wood processing plant at Petterden in 1992. He joined the WRA shortly after it formed in 2001.
The family business has 25 years’ experience in wood recycling and processing of wood products, achieving many innovative processes and awards over the years, including the WRA Energy Development of the Year Award in 2011.
Mr Laing started his company, D J Laing (Contracts) Limited in 1975 as a civil engineering business and over the past 42 years expanded it into three companies: D J Laing (Contracts) Limited; D J Laing Homes Limited; D J Laing Recycling Solutions Limited.
DJ Laing Recycling Solutions intends to remain a member of the WRA and Mr Laing will continue to attend its quarterly member meetings as often as he can.
