Mick George appoints new CFO

The Mick George Group has appointed Alan Hardy as its new chief financial officer.

Mr Hardy has more than 20 years’ board level experience and is tasked with developing and delivering a long-term financial plan for the group, while “concurrently improving financial processes and systems”.

His previous experience was with BOC, Capita, UK Government and Transport Systems Catapult. He has covered major capital investment and business change programmes including, multiple ERP system implementations and transformation programmes.

As a member of the board, Mick George confirmed that his Mr Hardy’s specific focus areas include financial planning and analysis, improving profitability and cash flow, streamlining processes and systems, leadership and development of the finance function and financial support and advice to the board.


UKWSL expands corporate team

The corporate team at UK Waste Solutions Ltd (UKWSL) has been expanded with the appointment of Darren Perks as corporate account manager.

Mr Perks joins the Newark-based firm with experience from across the UK waste brokerage industry. He will be primarily focusing his attentions on the construction, hospitality and retail and leisure sectors of the market.

Within the waste and recycling sector, Darren has worked at Countrywide Waste in customer services, which was latterly acquired by Reconomy.

Max Kanda, managing director of UKWSL, said: “Darren has already proven himself to be an invaluable addition to our Corporate team.  We welcome his hands-on approach and innate ability to build long-lasting and consistent client relationships across a wide range of sectors.”


Vanden Recycling appoints business development manager

Vanden Recycling has appointed Imran Magre as Business Development Manager to continue to target the waste management sector.

Mr Magre will also be using his commercial knowledge of the plastic recycling industry to develop partnerships with plastic sheet converters – namely bespoke packaging, credit and loyalty card producers and flower label printers.

He joins the growing team at Vanden from a commercial background in plastic recycling and played a pivotal role in heading up the secure destruction team in his last position.

Mr Magre said: “I hope to consolidate the great reputation Vanden has by continuing to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the region.”

David Wilson, managing director of Vanden UK, commented: “Imran has significant experience in the purchasing of scrap plastic and is servicing our Waste Management and Recycler suppliers in the North of England.

“Imran has hit the ground running and is already becoming a familiar face with a number of our loyal supply base.”


Additions for waste and recycling recruiters

Specialist waste and recycling recruiter Robert Adams Search & Selection has announced the appointment of two senior consultants.

Graham Harrison and Siobhan Najeeb will be helping the business as it expands. Mr Harrison has experience across the public and private sector, previously working for FCC Environment and Cumbria County Council.

Ms Najeeb brings around 16 years of recruitment experience, having worked in the welfare to work and criminal justice sectors.

Bobby Benson, director of Robert Adams, said: “I’m so pleased to welcome Siobhan & Graham to the team.

“Graham brings a different perspective to recruitment; he’ll really understand our client & candidate requirements having sat on the other side of the table himself. Siobhan has a great track record in recruitment and has already picked up the basics of the industry.”
