With news on celebrations at NAWDO marking the 25th anniversary of the association; RDF exporter Andusia appoints a general manager; and a new recruit at East Anglian firm Ellgia.
NAWDO Anniversary celebration
The National Association of Waste Disposal Officers celebrated its 25th anniversary at its meeting in London last week with a number of former chairs of the association present.

Terrell joins RDF firm Andusia
RDF export specialist Andusia Recovered Fuels Limited has announced that Mark Terrell will be joining its team as general manager.

Mr Terrell will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the business and leading the management team.
With a long history of experience in the waste industry, Mr Terrell has worked in many sectors of the industry from most recently principal consultant at Ricardo’s Energy & Environment team.
This includes experience with Suez UK and also Lafarge and Veolia. At Suez UK he managed a specialist team responsible for RDF & SRF.
Andusia, formed in 2012, describes itself as the UK’s largest independent exporter, offering a full and flexible supply chain solution for collecting and delivering RDF from UK producers.
Ellgia appoints Marshall as general manager
Ely waste management and recycling company Ellgia has appointed a new general manager, Gareth Marshall.

With more than 16 years’ experience in the waste management industry, Mr Marshall is taking over the role after the retirement of Ian McLees, Ellgia’s previous General Manager. He will be responsible for running three depots at Ely, Prickwillow and Boston.
Jack Lavington, Ellgia operations director, said: “We are excited to have Gareth on board as he has excellent experience and a proven track record within the waste management sector. Ellgia has ambitious plans for the future and we believe Gareth has the right knowledge and skills to help us on our journey.”
Previously Gareth was Operations Director for Environmental Waste Controls and prior to that he worked in various waste management companies throughout East Anglia, first of all in transport operations and later developing a materials recycling facility.
Gareth Marshall said: “I can’t wait to get stuck in and be part of the great team here at Ellgia. I am already impressed with the ambition and drive of the directors.”
Operations began at Ellgia in 2011, and since then the business has seen growth partly through a series of strategic acquisitions .
