Ecosurety appoints first chief operating officer
Producer compliance scheme Ecosurety has appointed Neil Pollard as its chief operating officer.
The position is new within the company. Mr Pollard has experience within both listed and private equity backed regulated companies where he held senior finance and operations roles.
He will oversee Ecosurety’s technical and procurement teams, focusing on commercial activities and the business’ performance. He will also sit on the Ecosurety board.
Mr Pollard said: “I am delighted to have joined Ecosurety at an exciting time for both the firm and the wider industry and I look forward to helping shape the next stage of growth. I believe we are well-positioned to continue offering best in class compliance whilst creating real impact for UK recycling and the wider environment.”
James Piper, chief executive of Ecosurety praised Mr Pollard’s experience and track-record for building capacity and financial control.
He said: “We’ve seen our ethos and business model really resonate with producers and retailers over the last few years and on this basis the company’s membership base has increased. Neil’s appointment marks a new phase for Ecosurety – we’re delighted to have him on board.”
Ward hires soil specialist to expand work
Ward Recycling has hired a soil specialist to expand its in-house capabilities in in land remediation work, site investigation and hazardous waste identification.
Dr Dimitrios Kosmidis has joined Ward’s contracting division, Ward Special Projects, based at Ilkeston in Derbyshire. He will be part of the team delivering one-off and ongoing contracts providing site services such as material management, deconstruction, asset removal, remediation and contamination removal, as well as the bulk processing of metals, minerals and waste
For the past five years Dr Kosmidis has been a PhD researcher at Loughborough University.
He said: “Ward has given me the opportunity to develop my commercial skills and be part of an exciting and friendly team.
“I’m responsible for all inbound soil waste enquiries, client and supplier liaison, plus I ensure the regulatory compliance of all laboratory testing for soil and other various materials for acceptance to Ward’s authorised waste processing facilities.”
UNTHA UK forms new board of directors
Industrial shredder specialists UNTHA UK has formed a new board of directors.
Managing director Marcus Brew will be joined by Peter Streinik, director of global strategy, Andrea Gratzer, finance director, and Gary Moore, who was promoted to sales director in September 2018 and also serves as director for global business development.
Mr Brew said: “We’ve worked hard to secure the best possible people for these roles, at a crucial time in our organisation’s journey.
“This year we’ve moved from an SME to a Large Corporate entity, and it is crucial that we have the knowledge, acumen and personalities around the table, to achieve our growth targets while preserving the customer service levels we’ve worked so hard to become renowned for.”
Both Mr Streinik and Ms Gratzer have joined UNTHA UK from the company’s Austrian Headquarters.
Julian Lamb has also recently been appointed as UNTHA UK’s sales manager, whilst Julie Cassidy has come on board as service coordinator. Ex-chairman Chris Oldfield has re-joined the team as commercial director.
RPM recruits business development lead for security shredding
RPM has recruited a new head of business development for its security shredding customer base.
Spencer Caldwell joins the plant, materials and machinery suppliers after graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in International Business Management.
His role will involve working with customers and strengthening the core services offered to them. He is looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to spread the RPM name throughout the UK and Europe.
The Swansea based company supplies a range of plant and equipment for the recycling industry, including balers.
