Nicky Cunningham, deputy director of waste regulation at the Environment Agency is leaving her post at the end of September, the Environment Agency has confirmed.
The Agency said: “Nicky is leaving the Environment Agency at the end of September and the post will be advertised”.
Nicky Cunningham has been with the Agency since 2000.
The deputy director has been overseeing waste regulation for more than three years after serving as Environment and Business Manager for over a year at the Agency.
In her role as deputy director, she has headed the team behind the EA’s approach to environmental regulation of permitted installations and waste sites.
And Ms Cunningham has most recently been involved in the work behind the ‘correct’ classification of waste wood by the Agency (see letsrecycle.com story).
According to her LinkedIn profile, she has been with the EA since 2000, starting off as a scientific officer in the South West Region Tidal Waters Team.
Ms Cunningham was also a senior associate teacher at the University of Bristol during her time at the Agency, teaching water quality on the Environmental Management Msc course.
