Cleaning Interactive event to go virtual
Recycling and waste management experts will have the opportunity to showcase innovations at Cleaning Interactive, an online event taking place from 8-9 September.
The organisers of the event says it will have a user-friendly interface to deliver the standard features of a live trade show.
Free to attend, the event will include an interactive stage, with virtual reality and augmented reality for a sensory experience.
The organisers also released the below video detailing more about what is on offer Cleaning Interactive.
Griffiths Group strikes Resource Efficient Data deal
Cardiff based start-up Resource Efficient Data have agreed a deal with Griffiths Group to provide UK waste data flow insight for the next twelve months.
The deal will provide Griffiths Group access to Resource Efficient Data’s platform of UK waste data. The platform houses open source data from Waste Data Flow and allows ease of interrogation of the data including by material type, material source, local authority, region, and many others.
Andrew Wright, commercial director, Griffiths Group said: “Since purchasing the RED system, we have been able to obtain very detailed information that we needed for research purposes to help us understand local trends. The system is very easy to navigate with good flows and concise options.”
A spokesperson from Resource Efficient Data said: “We are so pleased Griffiths Group have found value in the Resource Efficient Data UK waste data platform. They are the first UK waste management company to sign up and we believe they will have a competitive advantage as a result.”
Storm Board produces plywood alternative
Recycled hoarding board manufacturer, Storm Board, has developed a waste plastic recycling technology which it says enables it to transform waste plastic into an alternative to plywood.
The Somerset-based firm says its range of products would help reduce the amount of plywood imported from Europe and China.
The plywood alternatives can be made into a number of things such as shelters at festivals and benches.
Nick Stillwell, managing director of Storm Board, said: “ At Storm Board we’re showing that this plastic can be recycled into quality, visually-appealing products that can be used for a wide range of purposes.
“Rather than send plastic off to landfill and then spend out more on plywood for shelving, hoarding or installations, let Storm Board recycle it for you into something useful.
“We have developed a solution that will go some way towards tackling the issue of plastic waste, reducing imports of cheap single-use plywood and creating durable, reusable products for a range of industries.”
Storm Environmental thanks workforce
Bin manufacturer Storm Environmental has thanked its workforce which helped to keep the business going during the coronavirus pandemic.
The British company said that during the pandemic it has been working with local authorities and waste companies who are on the frontline by providing services and support to the NHS and all UK residents.
A spokesperson for the company said: “The Storm team are what we like to call ‘the hidden heroes’. Their wellbeing has been paramount to Storm being able to provide an ongoing service. Regular temperature checks, hand sanitiser, social distancing and other safety measures are in place to make certain everyone arrives at and leaves work with a clean bill of health.”
