By 13/08/2020News

Veolia has announced that Richard Kirkman, its chief technology and innovation officer for the UK and Ireland, will leave his role in September to become CEO of Veolia Australia and New Zealand.

Richard Kirkman will become CEO of Veolia Australia and New Zealand from 1 September

Mr Kirkman will be replaced by Keith Leonard —  the current head of maintenance at the waste management giant — who has been appointed as technical and performance director for Veolia UK and Ireland.

Other engineers will also “develop their roles” by covering different aspects of the innovation and operational  areas, Veolia confirmed.

Projects

Mr Kirkman joined the Veolia Group in 1994 as an environmental engineer, and has helped position the company “at the forefront of technology and innovation”, Veolia said.

During this period he has been responsible for landmark projects including the Southwark recycling facility, Dagenham Plastics, SELCHP district heating and the Leeds Energy Recovery Facility.

He takes up his new position, based in Sydney, on 1 September and will have responsibility for the development of new infrastructure within the Australia and New Zealand Zone.

‘Outstanding contribution’

Gavin Graveson, executive vice-president of Veolia UK & Ireland, said: “Richard has made an outstanding contribution to our business across a wide remit and become a well-known and well-respected commentator on resource management issues.

“His passion for resourcing the world and protecting the environment will continue as CEO of the Australia and New Zealand zone, and I’m sure his industry colleagues will wish him well in his exciting new role.”
