An investigation is ongoing into a fatality which took place at a recycling facility in North Wales last week.
Today (6 December), Stephen Jones, managing director of Recycle Cymru which operates the facility at the Tir Llwyd Industrial Estate in Kinmel Bay, said he was “devastated” by the fatality.

When contacted by letsrecycle.com, he explained that the company is working closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Police. “Our sympathy is with the family,” he said.
Mr Jones confirmed that the facility was handed back to the company on Friday and the investigation by HSE is ongoing.
Incident
Police were called at 7.31pm on Thursday 30th November to a report of an incident at Recycle Cymru “where a man was sadly pronounced dead,” the North Wales Police Said.
The Welsh Ambulance Service sent two paramedics in a rapid response vehicle and a member of its Special Operations Response Team to the scene. The North Wales Fire and Rescue also attended.
On Thursday, detective chief inspector Neil Harrison said: “I can confirm that we are investigating an incident at Recycle Cymru. We are liaising with the HSE and the man’s family have been informed.”
A HSE spokesperson said: “HSE is aware of the incident and is assisting North Wales police with their enquiries.”
Yesterday, the Police confirmed the incident is now being dealt with by the HSE.
According to Companies House, Recycle Cymru Ltd is a business which deals with the collection of non-hazardous waste. The company’s two directors are listed as Sharon Jones and Stephen Jones.
