With news on: Balebid’s launch in UK; Ward’s investment in Ardent fire protection; and AMCS’s new digital solutions.

Balebid launches in the UK

Recycling trading platform, Balebid, has expanded its global reach – including China and India – by launching in the UK.

Registration and listings of bale auctions on Balebid is free.

Balebid offers a marketplace for new machinery and manufacturer’s shopfronts, as well as a used section for balers, forklifts, loading rams and any other recycling equipment.

In an announcement, the platform said that “it is specifically designed for ease of use by small independent recyclers and brokers right up to mills and bulk importers”.

Registration and listings of bale auctions is free and includes details such as if the seller has a certified weighbridge, are the bales stored indoors and if there is sufficient access for large HGV’s.

Electrical waste and textiles will also soon be added to the menu of materials, which currently include papers, cardboard, plastics and metals.

The platform has a presence in China, Europe, India and Asia and offers recyclers the choice of alternative routes for material.

“With recent restrictions and quality issues on material being exported from the UK now is the best time to find alternative routes for material. The way that Balebid works allows the buyer and seller, once introduced, to discuss quality and arrange site/material inspections, it’s very transparent,” said the announcement.

Ward protects against fire with Ardent

Ward has been working Ardent to protect their equipment from fire for seven years.

Metal and waste recycler, Ward Recycling has been working Ardent to protect their equipment at their sites in Derbyshire against the risk of fire.

Ward Recycling protects all its mobile plant across their sites with automatic, twin agent systems combining dry and wet extinguishing agents – including wheel loaders, material handlers and cranes.

“In recent years, there has been a lot of terrible stories in the news about fires on waste sites in particular, and for us the risk of having a fire is huge. It can be potentially disastrous for companies and for the environment,” said Donald Ward, Ward Recycling Commercial Manager.

Donald added: “We want a system that we can rely on. That is what Ardent gives us. We have the twin agent system that deals with putting out the fire and keeping the fire out.”

“Ardent does a really got job at training our operatives, making sure that they know how to manually operate the system if required and what to do in case of an emergency”.

AMCS releases two digital solutions

An application platform provider for the waste and recycling industry, AMCS, has announced two new solutions on the AMCS platform: AMCS Analytics and AMCS Digital Engagement.

AMCS Analytics is a business intelligence service, aimed at providing dashboards on key data, to “allow instant access to meaningful business insights, focusing on the data that can accelerate business performance and avoid revenue leakage”.

The platform’s Digital Engagement solution aims to “reduce call centre traffic and benefit from a more streamlined, automated and lower cost communication channel”. The solution will also offer e-commerce, supplier web portals and digital payment channels.

“With the expansion of the AMCS Platform, we are building on our strategy to empower our customers with an intelligent platform that will support the ongoing transformation to a more circular economy. Our solutions allow customers to digitise their businesses, enabling them to operate more seamlessly and efficiently,” said Mark Abbas, Chief Marketing Officer at AMCS.
