Molson Green becomes dealer for Turmec
Molson Green, one of the UK’s largest distributors of capital equipment, has become a dealer for Turmec, a leading waste management solutions provider based in Co. Meath, Ireland.

This deal sees the formalisation of a long-standing partnership between the two companies, where they have worked together “to provide a full 360-degree product offering to recycling industry businesses for over six years”.
Founded in 1973, Turmec designs and engineers products, ranging from design, installation and maintenance of large-scale recycling systems through to small modifications to existing plants.
The UK market is currently the largest market for Turmec, but products are also currently distributed throughout Ireland, UAE and Australia.
Molson Group joint managing director Robin Powell said: “As the Molson Green business continues to grow, this deal now enables us to make a more coherent full 360-degree product offering to customers, with equipment that can be trusted in the most demanding applications”.
Turmec chief executive, Brian Thornton said: “There are strong synergies between the two companies with focus on customer service, product quality and most importantly integrity has formed the base of this new agreement. Turmec will continue to deal with our existing customer base and the team of 39 salesmen within the Molson Group, will develop new leads from their customer base identify new opportunities throughout the UK”.

Thamesdown Recycling invests in ZoneSafe
Swindon-based recycling firm, Thamesdown Recycling has invested in a ZoneSafe alert system.

The company said it has made the investment due to the high volumes of traffic through its site each day, and the wide range of industrial vehicles used.
According to Thamesdown, the system eliminates “major risk factors” on site including accidents between pedestrian workers and vehicles when they are manoevering, reversing, loading, unloading and tipping.
ZoneSafe is a proximity warning and alert system designed to create safe working environments between pedestrian workers and industrial vehicles. Using RFID technology, a 360-degree detection zone is created around vehicles, assets, crossings and walkways using an antenna.
RFID tags, either worn by personnel or fitted to vehicles, are detected by the system when they enter or breach the detection zone. When the system detects a tag, for example, when a person or vehicle enters the detection zone, an audible-visual alarm is triggered to provide an instant alert. Once a tag is no longer detected in the danger zone or collision risk area, the alarm will stop.

Airbag Disposal UK opts for Loadhog containers
Working with car manufacturers, Airbag Disposal UK is using Loadhog Limited’s UN Certified Containers to transport and recycle airbags and associated components.

To date Airbag Disposal UK has transported hazardous airbags, deployed and not, using large and expensive metal containers, according to Loadhog.
The company said its UN Certified Containers provide enhanced security and improved ergonomics. A security tag, plus an attached strap on every container “further improves the safety of the hazardous materials within”.
Josh Askwith, director and operations manager at Airbag Disposal UK, said: “After visiting Loadhog Ltd we were eager to get on board with its products. The UN Containers are applicable to our company on a day to day basis, both in the workshop and on the road.”
The containers are also reusable, plastic and durable, requiring little maintenance and “effortless” to lift and carry, Loadhog says.
Loadhog has recently extended the UN Container Range with the addition of a 190 litre UN Certified Bulk Container capable of securing and transporting hazardous materials weighing up to 120 kg.

Ridgway adds JCB models to hire fleet
Shropshire-based plant hire specialist, Ridgway Rentals, has added three new JCB machines to its growing fleet of waste handling equipment.

JCB dealer, Gunn JCB, supplied a model 457 wheeled loader, a JS20MH wheeled material handler and a 560-80 Wastemaster Loadall. The deal was funded through JCB Finance and Gunn JCB will provide full warranty and service back-up nationwide through the JCB dealer network.
The JCB 457 features an MTU diesel engine, while its CommandPlus cab delivers operator comfort and productivity, the company said.
The 560-80 Wastemaster Loadall is the highest capacity machine in the JCB Loadall range. With 6,000kg of lifting capacity and its powerful EcoMax engine, the 560-80 assures high operational output, said JCB.
All of the new acquisitions will go straight into Ridgway Rental’s nationwide fleet of specialist waste handlers which the company offers through its recently launched waste hire division.
