Employee injured at Viridor’s Wythenshawe MRF

The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation after an incident at Viridor’s recycling site in Sharston, Greater Manchester on Sunday evening.

In the incident a male employee was injured at the company’s Longley Lane materials recycling facility (MRF) in Sharston in the Wythenshawe area of south Manchester.

In a statement, Viridor said it could confirm that the incident took place on Sunday 13 August 2017.

The company noted that it involved “a 29-year-old employee at the Longley Lane Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Greater Manchester.  The employee was taken straight to hospital following the incident and the MRF is closed while the incident is investigated.”

Safety

Viridor added: “Viridor takes the safety and wellbeing of its employees very seriously and is co-operating fully with Greater Manchester Police and the Health and Safety Executive.”

North West Ambulance Service told letsrecycle.com that it attended the incident and “took the patient to Wythenshawe Hospital”. The fire service did not attend.
