By 09/01/2017News

Waste and recycling firm Countrystyle Recycling has welcomed 2017 with the award of two contracts for the management of waste in its home county Kent – including its first in the healthcare sector.

The company has signed a partnership with healthcare waste specialist SRCL to provide a residual waste, dry mixed recycling, and hazardous waste service for six acute, mental social care and community trusts in Kent.

Countrystyle has announced two contract wins in 2017

The four-year contract worth close to £1m will cover five acute hospitals and a further 150 other units including smaller hospitals, clinics, day centres and surgeries.

Countrystyle will be responsible for around 350 general waste lifts and 230 dry mixed recycling lifts per week under the terms of the deal.

Commenting, Countrystyle’s account & bid support manager, Alex Bardsley, said: “The tactical decision to approach and partner with SRCL has allowed Countrystyle to enter into the healthcare sector and further reinforce them as an attractive proposition to national waste companies.”

Facilities

In a separate deal, facilities management firm Kier has appointed Countrystyle as its sub-contractor to provide waste collection and recycling services across Kent’s schools and for Kent county council’s public offices in East Kent.

Kent county council awarded Kier the county-wide facilities management contract last year which included waste collection and recycling services.

The four-year contract valued at a total of £3m sees Countrystyle servicing circa 330 schools across the county and 85 properties owned or operated by Kent county council.

Operationally, the contract will involve close to 967 general waste lifts per week, 514 dry mixed recycling lifts, 77 confidential waste loads and five food waste collections.

Countrystyle’s consultant bid manager, Tim Haines, said: “This contract reinforces Countrystyle’s multi-layered working relationships, not only with Kier, but equally importantly with Kent county council.”

The latest contract awards follow other new business for the Maidstone-based firm secured in the second half 2016, including a three-year deal worth around £1 million for waste management services at Canterbury Christ Church University (see letsrecycle.com story).
