Countrystyle Recycling, working alongside sister company Envar Composting, has announced the launch of a waste collection and treatment services for commercial and industrial customers in the Cambridgeshire area.
Countrystyle says its move into the Cambridgeshire area is a “logical step” following its acquisition in January 2021 of East Anglia based, walking floor haulage and bottle bank collection specialist, Indigo Waste Services Limited.
Part of the Kent-based family owned Heathcote Holdings Group of resource management companies, Countrystyle’s operations will be based out of Envar’s flagship composting site at St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
The St Ives facility produces quality PAS100 and CQP certified soil conditioner for the agricultural, viticultural and horticultural markets, as well as manufacturing biomass fuels.
Acquiring Indigo, explains the company, has meant that operating out of its Thetford depot and with over 1,500 bottle banks located across the region, Countrystyle manages the diversion of 20,000 tonnes per annum of separate coloured glass cullet for use in glass container manufacturing.
[gallery_placement]Plasterboard recycling services are to be offered to the new operational area with gypsum material taken back to Countrystyle’s plasterboard recycling facility in Ridham, Kent. This is capable of producing 120,000 tonnes of waste plasterboard as a recycled power for plasterboard manufacturer Knauf UK.
St Ives
Commenting on the launch, managing director, Chris Howard, said: “Countrystyle’s expansion into Cambridgeshire and East Anglia is a logical step for the company using its close association with Envar Composting at St Ives.
“Joint plans for sustainable technology solutions at St Ives means we are well placed to deliver the cutting edge circular economy services that Cambridge-based businesses are striving for in order to help deliver the UK’s ambitious target of at least a 68% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the end of the decade, compared to 1990 levels.”
Countrystyle said it will be working to reduce carbon emissions through improved collection methods, including multi-pod vehicles, to reduce the number of visits to sites, while being able to deliver source segregated collections for various recyclable waste streams.

Joe Hemsley-Rudd has been appointed business development manager, for Countrystyle’s Cambridgeshire offering. He said: “Countrystyle offers businesses the green alternative to waste management. The company is also aiming from September this year to roll out its schools’ recycling and reuse education programme in Cambridgeshire which it already undertakes in Kent.
