By 11/06/2018News

The biennial Metals Recycling Event (MRE), which this year will have its largest ever demonstration area, is now just one month away. It is being held on 11-12 July 2018 at the NAEC exhibition centre at Stoneleigh, near Coventry.

This year’s event will see equipment demonstrations from across the sector with a range of keynote speakers. The event is organised by the Environment Media Group, letsrecycle.com’s parent company.

Stoneleigh speakers

Keynote speakers at the Metals Recycling Event: (l-r) Ross Bartley of BIR and Malcolm Lythgo from the Environment Agency

A conference will run alongside the exhibition and among the speakers is the Environment Agency’s  head of waste and regulation, Malcolm Lythgo, who will be speaking during the ‘Market forces and future outlook’ session which is chaired by Robert Fell, chief executive of the British Metals Recycling Association.

Mr Lythgo will be discussing the need for greater collaboration in the metals recycling industry. He will be joined by Ross Bartley in the opening session. Mr Bartley is the trade & environment director at the Bureau of International Recycling and will be discussing the international recycling market and the impact that the Chinese waste import restrictions have had.

Hugo Brodie, who is responsible for product development at the London Metal Exchange, will  give an outlook on the market as well as looking at historic trends and the future outlook.

Other sessions across the two days includes EU General Data Protection, Brexit & Europe, export standards and the industry’s contribution towards protecting the environment. The full programme can be seen HERE.

Equipment demonstration

Blue Fuchs, the event’s headline sponsor, will be displaying its MHL340 material handler. This has a robust boom design to ensure safety in the most extreme situations.   The dual circuit hydraulic configuration with low power dissipation ensure that slewing cycles are as powerful and swift as they are precise.
