Whitehouse joins Dudley council

David Whitehouse is set to become the first waste disposal and contracts manager at Dudley borough council after nine years at Warwickshire county council.

Mr Whitehouse joined Warwickshire’s waste management team in 2008, taking part in developing collaborative procurement and reuse schemes, and award-winning behaviour change campaigns.

He also played a role in developing the £3.5 million Lower House Farm Reuse and Recycling Centre and Waste Transfer Station in North Warwickshire and was the Warwickshire lead officer on the £122 million Staffordshire energy from waste PFI programme.

And most recently, Mr Whitehouse took part in franchising Warwickshire’s recycling centre re-use shops..

Dudley Council’s head of fleet and waste care, Heidi Marsh-Geyton said: “I am pleased to announce David is joining us from Warwickshire in the role of waste disposal and contracts manager. This is a new role within Dudley, to which David will bring a wealth of experience gained in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

“His portfolio includes collaborative procurement, stakeholder engagement and behaviour change campaigns. David will play a vital role in the development of the waste disposal aspect of the wider long term waste strategy for Dudley. David’s vast knowledge will be a positive addition to my management team.”


Plastic Omnium Urban Systems appoints new sales manager

David Bakes has been appointed as sales manager for West Midlands-based company, Plastic Omnium Urban Systems.

Mr Bakes was previously sales and operations director at outdoor and cycle shelter manufacturer, External Solutions, in Scunthorpe.

The company said that Mr Bakes will “add valuable support to the sales team in the South of the UK, contributing additional experience and knowledge to the company’s service and maintenance team for its underground waste container and wheeled bin business”.

Richard Gregg, managing director of Plastic Omnium Urban Systems, welcomed the new member of staff, saying: “We are delighted to welcome David to our busy team and look forward to drawing on his experience and enthusiasm.

“He will be responsible for promoting our containers, underground and semi-underground systems, alongside associated maintenance, cleaning and technology services in the South.”

Plastic Omnium Urban Systems provides waste containerisation products, including bins, containers and underground systems.


Ellgia welcomes marketing specialist

Cambridge-based Ellgia Recycling has announced Emily White as its group marketing specialist.

The company said that the appointment is “a sign of our commitment to the continuous improvement in our marketing, communications and brand”.

Ms White will be managing all of Ellgia’s marketing activity across their sites in Ely, Scuthorpe, Prickwillow and Boston.

Ellgia said it is anticipating “a certain creative flair in Emily’s work”, as Ms White previously worked in marketing for arts organisations, the University of Cambridge and a Fine Art degree.

Ms Whitehouse said: “I have arrived at Ellgia at a very exciting time when the company is in a state of rapid growth and ambition for continued success. I am looking forward to working closely with the leadership team to support Ellgia’s strategic goals, furthering my understanding of business operations and collaborating with the people here who contribute to Ellgia’s success.”
