Charlie Trousdell elected ORG chair
Charlie Trousdell – organics industry expert at Charlie T Associates – has been elected as chair of the Organics Recycling Group (ORG).
Mr Trousdell has had a long career in the composting sector, having originally established TJ Composting in 2000 and since its sale to Countrystyle Recycling, now acts as a consultant in a wide range of waste issues including biowaste.

According to the Renewable Energy Association – which the ORG is part of – Mr Trousdell has been an active member since 1997 – formerly the Composting Association – and has been active since on the ORG Steering Group and a number of other technical working groups
Mr Trousdell is keen “to encourage a healthy and vibrant industry which is not hamstrung by bureaucracy and red tape but one that encourages innovation and growth through responsible operators and pragmatic regulation”.
When contacted by letsrecycle.com, Mr Trousdell said one of his main priorities is to make the public feel responsible for what they put in their recycling bin.
Mr Trousdell has previously spoken out about the problems caused by plastic contamination in organic waste. Today (7 November), he said he was keen to look at new ways of communicating with the public about the need for quality organics, which he said is ‘critical’ going forwards.
Jeremy Jacobs, technical director of the REA welcomed Mr Trousdell, and both thanked outgoing chairman Alexander Maddan, “for having led the ORG so ably for the last five years through our merger with the REA amongst many challenges.”
Mr Jacobs added: “He leaves the ORG role to chair the wider and more diverse REA policy board, we wish him well in his new role.”
Pillman to take over as Natural Resources Wales chief exec
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has announced that Clare Pillman has been appointed as its next chief executive.

Currently director for culture, tourism and sport at the department for digital, culture, media & sport in Westminster, Ms Pillman will take up the post in late February 2018.
Ms Pillman’s current role includes responsibility for policy on culture, tourism and sport, bodies such as Historic England, Visit Britain, UK Sport and the Royal Parks, as well as delivering the UK’s centenary commemorations of the First World War, the Rugby World Cup and the bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.Previously she was responsible for running Her Majesty’s Courts Service in Wales.
Ms Pillman takes over from Dr Emyr Roberts who was NRW’s chief executive since it was set up in 2013. Kevin Ingram, NRW’s executive director for finance and corporate services, will be the interim chief executive following Dr Roberts’ retirement.
Bywaters appoints commercial manager
London-based waste management provider, Bywaters, is looking to expand its operation across the UK and has appointed a dedicated commercial manager.
Bywaters has appointed Sam Fairservice as commercial director
Newly appointed Sam Fairservice will be particularly looking after the financial aspects of all contracts.
According to Bywaters, Mr Fairservice is an enthusiastic supporter of the work done by the company in raising environmental awareness and minimising the pollution.
Commenting on the appointment, Amanda Brown, deputy managing director, said: “Sam is passionate in his role to deliver and maintain service to our clients whilst increasing new business. He has an eye for detail and delivery of key results. He always provides a lively dynamic to Bywaters and epitomises the concept of teamwork.”
