Clarity makes two appointments to waste fuel division

Environmental compliance and waste services firm Clarity Environmental has made two appointments to its waste-to-fuel division.

Ed Ewence and Harry Quinn have joined as business development executives to develop Clarity’s network of UK refuse derived fuel (RDF), solid recovered fuel (SRF) and wood recovery outlets. Clarity supplies waste feedstock to European and UK EfW plants. Both of the new recruits have joined from outside of the waste sector.

Commenting on the appointments, Clarity’s managing director, David Adams, said: “Our waste to fuel division has grown rapidly in just a few years, and quickly developed into one of our core business divisions.

“Our team continues to expand as a result, and I am pleased Ed and Harry have decided to join us at such an exciting time. With strong account management experience, and excellent customer service records, I am sure they will help us to grow even further in 2017.”

N+P appoints UK managing director

Dutch RDF and SRF supplier N+P Group has announced the appointment of Neville Roberts as managing director of its UK operations – who will be based at the company’s new office at Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

Mr Roberts – a chemical engineer by qualification – has worked in the cement industry for over 35 years having worked for Rugby Cement, The Saudi Cement Company, RTZ Cement, Castle Cement, RMC and CEMEX.

According to N+P Mr Roberts has specialised in production management and in particular the use of alternative fuels on cement kilns, throughout his career, and has advised a number of businesses in the use of alternative fuels.

N+P chief executive Karel Jennissen, said: “We see the appointment of Neville Roberts as MD for our UK organisation as a logical step in our business growth strategy.

“Neville will provide leadership, experience and strategic vision to manage and further expand our UK organisation, furthermore his knowledge of the production and use of alternative fuels is a big asset for our company.”

Otto de Bont joins Renewi

International waste business Renewi plc has announced the appointment of Otto de Bont as managing director of its Netherlands Commercial Division, effective since yesterday (8 May).

Otto de Bont has joined Renewi

Mr de Bont joins Renewi – which was formed following a merger between Shanks Group and Van Gansewinkel Groep B.V. – from United Technologies, where he spent six years, most recently as president of the Fire & Security Field for Continental Europe.

Prior to United Technologies, he held senior positions at a number of blue-chip companies including the Plastics and Security divisions of General Electric. Mr de Bont brings over 25 years of experience to Renewi

Peter Dilnot, chief executive of Renewi said: “I am delighted to welcome Otto to Renewi and to our Executive Committee. He is a strong leader and brings a wealth of experience to the company, having led a number of large organisations and post-merger integrations in relevant industries.

Advanced Plasma Power names new chairman

Gasification technology firm Advanced Plasma Power has announced the appointment of Sir John Parker as chairman.

The company has been given grant funding to develop a gasification plant near Swindon, and has described the appointment as a signal of its intent to ‘position itself for rapid and sustained growth’.

Sir John is also chairman of Pennon Group, the parent company of waste and recycling firm Viridor, a role he has held since 2015. He was previously the chairman of National Grid Plc, senior non-executive director and chair of the Court of the Bank of England, deputy chairman of DP World, joint chair of Mondi and chair of BVT and P&O Plc.

Commenting on his appointment, Sir John said: “Having chaired the Advisory Board of Advanced Plasma Power for a number of years now, I am delighted to be joining the main board as Chairman at this exciting time in the company’s evolution. Thanks to the support from Government and visionary shareholders, this is a perfect example of how UK innovation can transcend the commercialization chasm and ultimately provide a real boost to the UK economy.
