Yorwaste announces Sandy Boyle as MD
Sandy Boyle has been appointed as managing director of Yorkshire waste management firm, Yorwaste Group.
Mr Boyle spent the last six months working as the Group’s finance director, before being promoted to managing director. He succeeds Steve Barker, who left the company last year.
In his new role, Mr Boyle, who is a qualified accountant, will have overall responsibility for driving forward a business which has reported rapid growth over the last 12 months, aided by its acquisition of the Todd Waste Management Group last year.
Mr Boyle has previously worked in a range of sectors, including distribution, manufacturing, hedge fund administration, facilities management and aviation.
His roles have included being general manager of an airside operation at Heathrow Airport and manging the Chinese export sales for a multinational paper company in Hong Kong.
Eunomia makes senior appointment in Scotland
Environment consultancy Eunomia Research & Consulting has recruited five consultants, including industry veteran Duncan Oswald, who joins as senior consultant in Scotland.
Mr Oswald has 25 years’ experience in the industry and is now part of Eunomia’s resource efficiency team. He previously managed Ecodyn Ltd, which he founded in 2000.
Mr Oswald has delivered projects for both public and private sector clients such as Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, Scottish Government, local government, and companies including Highland Spring, Gates Power Transmission, 2Sisters, Marine Harvest, DS Smith and Sandvik.
Other appointments include Rebecca Burgess as senior project manager in the Bristol headquarters, and Cally Barnes as environmental services procurement consultant, coming from the borough of Poole. The London office is welcoming two graduates, Leyla Lugal and Iona Horton, as trainee consultants.
Willshee’s creates technical compliance manager role
Willshee’s Waste & Recycling, based in Burton-on-Trent, has welcomed Susan Purnell as technical compliance manager, with specific responsibility for hazardous waste.
Ms Purnell has over 15 years hazardous waste, compliance and auditing experience in the waste industry, having held several management positions within a number of leading waste companies, including Augean an SAICA Natur.
In her new role, Ms Purnell will be responsible for developing the hazardous waste strategy and hazardous offerings for its customers.
UK Container Maintenance strengthens sales team
Container repair and refurbishment company UK Container Maintenance (UKCM) has appointed an experienced sales manager, Alex Murphy.
With over 20 years’ experience in the cleaning and waste industries, Mr Murphy joins UKCM from London-based cleaning equipment specialist, Trafalgar Cleaning Equipment. Mr Murphy will help develop the company’s sales pipeline in London and the wider South East region.
The appointment follows UKCM’s expansion into a new site in Winsford, Cheshire. The 80,000 sqft factory houses a full refurbishment plant including waste, shot blast, spray, fabrication and repair and modification booths.
The family-owned firm now reports to turn over £6million per annum and employs over 60 people. UKCM works across the country offering waste companies and local authorities mobile repairs, as well as factory-based services at its head office.
