Inspection and research consultancy Waste Research Ltd has been acquired by Prescot-based Alfred H Knight Group (AHK).
Rotherham-based Waste Research was a long-established firm providing analytical and consultancy services to the waste management industry, central government agencies and local authorities. In particular it has provided independent inspection and testing services for the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) sectors.
AHK said the acquisition of Waste Research represents “a key milestone towards our vision to become a leader in the provision of inspection, sampling and testing services to the RDF and SRF industry.”
And, AHK explained that through its existing subsidiary Knight Energy Services, it has “extensive UK and international experience and knowledge in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels including; coal, coke, biomass and SRF.”
Knight Energy Services
Waste Research is to rebrand to become a part of Knight Energy Services which has its headquarters and principal testing laboratory in Scotland at Dundonald, Ayrshire. Knight Energy is headed up by David Kerrigan with Ken Hepburn as biomass manager.
Mr Kerrigan said: “The acquisition of WRL strengthens our capability to provide a comprehensive service to our customers seeking to optimise and protect their supply chains and associated sale and purchase agreements.
“Building upon the strong foundations established at WRL, we are looking forward to continuing and developing successful relationships with both existing and potential clients.”
