35-Under-35s recognised for ‘dedication and effort’

By 06/09/2021News

35 stars of the recycling and waste sector under the age of 35 have been recognised as status holders at an awards ceremony in London.

Held last week, the ceremony for the national ’35-Under-35 scheme for the recycling and waste management sector’ also saw three of the status holders chosen as the ‘top three nominations’.

Organised by letsrecycle.com and sponsored by Grundon, the event heard from Neil Grundon, vice chairman and Steve Eminton editor of letsrecycle.com.

Mr Grundon presented the top three status holders with a bottle of champagne to mark their achievement. The three are: Ed Barnes of Urbaser; Molly Bell of Suez recycling and recovery UK; and Laura Paterson of South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council.

Top 3 status holders: (l-r) Steve Eminton, letsrecycle.com; status holders, Molly Bell of Suez recycling and recovery UK and Laura Paterson of Oxford Direct Services; Neil Grundon; and status holder Ed Barnes of Urbaser

Praising the “great success and huge effort” of all the 35-Under-35s recognised this year, Mr Grundon reflected on the challenges they had faced during the pandemic and the high levels of service and performance delivered.

Mr Eminton said that the judges had seen “real dedication and a level of conscientiousness among the 35 which was quite amazing. They have contributed so much to their business or council, taking the lead, showing initiative and doing more than might be expected.”

Judges were Rachel Melvin of Staffordshire county council’s waste management team; Caelia Quinault, materials correspondent, letsrecycle.com; Rod Paterson of Ekman UK, and Steve Eminton, editor letsrecycle.com.
