Keynote sessions

The conference agenda features headline sessions on policy developments and the move to a net-zero circular economy,  as well as advances in machinery and processing.

The first keynote session at 10:30 on the first day sits against a backdrop of the upcoming COP 26 meeting in November. It will explore the waste management sector’s contribution to achieving net zero.

Speaking at this session will be Jacob Hayler, executive director of the Environmental Services Association, Tim Rotheray, director of innovation and regulation at Viridor, and Joe Papineschi, and Chris Sherrington, both from Eunomia.

The following session centres around leaders in resource management, reflecting on the last 18 months for the sector and how the industry will recover and develop over the next decade.

Chairing the session will be Dr Anna Willetts from Gunnercooke LLP, with other speakers including Vicki Hughes, group business development director at Enva, John Scanlon, CEO at SUEZ, and Dougie Sutherland, CEO at Cory Environmental.

Workers

In the afternoon on the first day, there will be a careers, apprenticeships, training, HR and employee welfare session. This comes at a time where staff shortages and lack of HGV drivers are at an all time high.

Letsrecycle Live will feature five conference theatres, pictured here are delegates at a talk at the Material Village in 2019

The session will also touch on industry plans for skill development, with Katie Cockburn, professional services director at WAMITAB.  Following on will be Adam Read, president at CIWM, who will be looking at staff shortages

There will also be a panel to explore the experience of working in the sector.

Sector specific talks will also be taking place throughout the day in the Materials Village.
