FCC awarded five stars in health and safety audit
FCC Environment has been awarded a five-star rating following an occupational health and safety audit conducted by the British Safety Council.
The Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit measures performance against key health and safety management best practice indicators and carries out a review of more than sixty component elements.
FCC Environment was founded in 2012 when Focsa Services (UK) and Waste Recycling Group merged
The audit process included reviewing documentation, interviews with senior management, employees and other key stakeholders, and sampling of operational activities.
David Parr, policy and technical services director at the British Safety Council, said: “The award of a five-star grading following our occupational best practice Health and Safety Audit is an outstanding achievement and is reflective of a proactive organisation which is committed to continual improvement in its health and safety arrangements and managing risks to workers’ health, safety and welfare. FCC Environment should be very proud of this achievement.”
Founded in 1957, the charitable British Safety Council describes itself as a government-regulated health and safety organisation.
BPH Attachments named exclusive LaBounty dealer
Hydraulic attachment specialist BPH Attachments has been named the exclusive LaBounty dealer for the UK and Ireland.
US-based LaBounty, part of hydraulic tool manufacturer Stanley Infrastructure, has supplied shear and demolition attachments to the market since 1973.
BPH attachments will now offer equipment such as LaBounty’s MSD 2250R shears
BPH says the agreement allows it to add LaBounty’s range of steel shears to its already “vast” collection of attachments. The company will also be able to refurbish and service existing LaBounty users’ equipment.

Storm Environmental launches accessible bin
Waste container manufacturer Storm Environmental has launched a bin intended to be more accessible for wheelchair users who wish to recycle.
The 1280 litre container, known as a DDA bin, has a large aperture on the front for wheelchair users unable to reach the lid on the top.

Following a successful trial, it has been rolled out in Brighton and Hove, with a view to introducing the bin to other areas.
Brighton resident and wheelchair user Ann Packham said: “The bin is making a big difference for elderly and disabled people. It’s nice to be independent and be able to do the recycling ourselves.”
Trials of the bin in Islington, London, are ongoing. Storm hopes they will lead to the company rolling out the bins in other London boroughs.

Dunelm launches recycling partnership with BHF and Clearabee
Dunelm has launched a scheme with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and waste management company Clearabee to make furniture and mattress recycling easier for its customers.
The BHF will offer free collection on any unsoiled furniture items with fire labels still intact to Dunelm customers. The furniture will then be transported to their charity shops on high streets across the UK.

Clearabee will offer Dunelm customers who upload an order confirmation or receipt when booking a collection slot a discounted rate. Customers can book a collection using an online system offering contact-free, same day slots.
