South Yorkshire Police has said it is continuing to investigate an incident in Sheffield last month which saw a Veolia refuse collection vehicle collide with one of the company’s employees, leaving him with “serious injuries”.
The incident is being investigated as a road traffic collision in the Nether Edge part of the city.

South Yorkshire Police said it was called shortly before 10.30am on 15 May to Lyndhurst Road where “where it’s understood that as the lorry turned in to Alexandra Gardens, it had collided with the man”.
The 57-year-old was taken to hospital and suffered life changing leg injuries.
Officers later released an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage “after a bin man was reportedly run over by a bin lorry”.
Investigation
A spokesperson from Veolia, which is the contractor for Sheffield’s waste services, said: “At approximately 10am on Friday 15 May, a Veolia refuse collection vehicle was involved in an incident in Nether Edge, Sheffield, resulting in one of our employees receiving serious leg injuries. Health and safety is Veolia’s priority and an immediate investigation is underway into this incident.”
A statement from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said: “HSE are aware of this incident. The police currently have primacy and are investigating this as a road traffic collision. HSE will also be investigating in consultation with the police. There has already been local media interest and the police issued an appeal for witnesses on Facebook a couple of days after the incident.”
South Yorkshire Police is still appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, especially those with dashcam footage, to call them on 101.
