With 2020 shaping up to be a pivotal year for the waste and recycling sector, Jacob Hayler, executive director of the Environmental Services Association, spoke with letsrecycle.com about what to expect.
While the Environment Bill introduced to parliament last month will provide the legislative framework for the government to deliver its 2018 Resources and Waste Strategy, consultations expected later this year are set to have a major impact on how exactly this is achieved.
My Hayler also discussed commodity markets, suggesting that the markets may have “seen the worst”.
Alongside this, the ESA’s executive director also touched on carbon emissions and the role which the waste and recycling sector can play in helping the UK hit ‘net zero’.
