Waste on Wheels raises £7,000 for Alzheimers Society
The annual Waste on Wheels bike ride raised £7,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society, as 30 cyclists took on the 180 mile trip from Reading to the National Refuse Championships in Weston-super-Mare.

The team – which faced tough weather conditions over one of the wettest weeks of the year – included representatives from City of London, Vehicle Weighing Solutions, Innovative Safety Systems, Biffa and CMS Supatrak. Since the event began four years ago £120,000 has been raised for a range of charities.
Vincent Dignam, business performance & transport group manager at City of London, said: “It was great to be involved in this bike ride for the fourth time and to raise money for a great charity, The Alzheimer’s Society, which is close to my heart.
“Each year more and more people get involved; not just cycling but also sponsoring, supporting the teams and donating.
Bryson rewards scheme funds home for children
A recycling rewards scheme run by Bryson Recycling has helped fund a ground-breaking therapeutic home for children with complex care needs.

The Belfast based social enterprise has given £9,500 to MACS Supporting Children and Young People, who are building a home for young people aged 11 to 25 whose needs mean they cannot be placed in children’s homes or foster homes.
Bryson Recycling send paper, plastic and card collected in kerbside boxes to partners who transform them into products for well-known brands like McDonalds and Baileys.
Eric Randall, director at Bryson Recycling, said: “The Recycling Rewards demonstrates how simple, everyday tasks such as recycling household items can benefit those in need. Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness for the importance of recycling and its positive contribution to the communities we live and work in.”
Contenur to cycle 300 miles for Manchester tourettes group
Container provider Contenur is supporting a cycle ride from London to Paris in three days for their chosen charity, Manchester Tourettes Support Group.
Contenur hopes to raise £5,000 by cycling from London to Paris
Nine Contenur employees and customers will take on the 300-mile challenge with the aim of raising £5,000 for the charity, which has helped the son of one of the UK team members.
The cyclists will leave from the Cutty Sark on July 18 and will finish at the Eiffel Tower. Over the past three years Contenur have supported a number of causes with their charity events.
The money will mean that the Manchester Tourettes Support Group – which was the first group of its kind to be established in the North-West of England – can continue to assist all the families who need their help.
UKCM supports new cardiac screening programme in Cheshire
Winsford-based container refurbishment company UKCM has donated £5,000 to the Cardiac Arrest in the Young (CRY) charity, after its founder Emma Elston MBE was touched by the story of a local man who died of a heart defect aged 23.

CRY was founded by Deborah Dixon after her son’s death. She was told it could have been prevented if he had undergone an ECG test when he was previously in hospital after experiencing severe black outs.
Emma Elston MBE said: “From the entire team at UKCM, we are delighted to contribute towards such a valuable and life changing charity.
“Through Deborah’s sheer hard work and determination, she has now funded screening for over 2,500 young people in schools and community spaces across Cheshire.”
