CS Recycling managing director Craig Curtis has been elected as the president of The Recycling Association, replacing the outgoing Adrian Jackson.
Mr Curtis, who was previously a director of the Association, has been with CS Recycling for more than 35 years and said he is “honoured” to take the role.

The Recycling Association, which has a focus on the paper and plastic sectors, represents more than 80 UK recycling organisations and claims to be he largest network of independent waste and recycling operators in the UK.
Commenting on the appointment, the Association’s chief executive Simon Ellin said: “Craig Curtis is well known in the recycling industry and has been an active board member for a number of years. I’ve know Craig for a long time, and have always appreciated the support he has given to me and the Association.
“As managing director of CS Recycling, he has years of experience in the recycling sector that will prove valuable as we take The Recycling Association forward. Craig has recently been heavily involved in formulating the Association’s response to the Resources and Waste Strategy consultation, where his experience and insights showed what an asset he will be as president.”
Mr Ellin added that he would like to think the outgoing president, Adrian Jackson, for his service, and praised him with overseeing a “transformation of the Association”, which he says led to vast increase in numbers.
‘Honour’
After the announcement of his new role, Mr Curtis said in a statement that he is looking forward to building on the work the organisation had carried out over the last few years.
“I am delighted to become President of The Recycling Association and consider it a great honour,” he said.
Mr Curtis added: “With the recently published Resources & Waste Strategy and extended producer responsibility coming into force, it is a time of great change for the recycling industry and I am excited to work in this role to help the industry reach its potential. I can’t wait to get started.”
Echoing this, the departing Adrian Jackson, who was managing director of Prismm before it was sold to Reconomy earlier this year, said: “I would like to congratulate Craig on becoming President of The Recycling Association. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as President, and I’m sure he will do too.
“The Recycling Association is fortunate to have somebody like Craig as its President, and I know he will represent the interests of its fantastic membership. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Simon and the team in Daventry for all their hard work over the time of my Presidency, and I’m sure Craig will really enjoy working with them.”
