An investigation has been launched following the death of a man at EIS Waste Services’ materials recycling facility near Aberdeen yesterday (3 October).
Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are making inquiries into the ‘sudden’ incident, which happened at the Nigg-based site at around 2.30pm.
The man, who has not been named, was confirmed by a police spokesman to have been in his 30s.
A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are at an early stage and are ongoing to establish the circumstances. As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
MRF
Established in 1989, EIS Waste Services handles around 100,000 tonnes of waste and recyclables per annum, establishing what it terms ‘one of the largest’ MRFs in the North East of Scotland. The company also offers trade waste and skip hire services.
When contacted by letsrecycle.com, EIS Waste Services declined to comment.
The death follows a spate of fatalities to have hit the waste and recycling sector this year, including another incident in Aberdeenshire in which a tipper van driver working for the council was killed in a road traffic collision in May.
