Stobart takes on ‘head of people’
Leading supplier of biomass fuel, Stobart Energy, has appointed Sara Stephens to the newly created role of ‘head of people’.

Ms Stephens will support Stobart Energy in putting in place the structures that will enable the company to deliver on its strategic goals, it said in a statement.
Stobart Energy said it intends to invest in its people and their training as the company continues to widen its range of services the in UK’s renewable energy market.
Ms Stephens has extensive experience in people strategy, most recently working with The Billington Group, and Carrs Billington Agriculture Ltd. She will be based primarily at Stobart Energy’s offices Widnes but will also provide support to the company’s assets across the UK.
Cromwell Polythene appoints sales executive
Cromwell Polythene has appointed Alex Lee as a sales executive
North Yorkshire-based Cromwell Polythene, which specialises in the supply of sacks and bags for waste and recycling, has appointed Alex Lee as a sales executive.
Mr Lee, the son of managing director, James and company secretary Debbie, will be joining his two brothers, Angus and Henry, who are already part of the 37-strong Cromwell Polythene team as office manager and business development manager respectively.
On joining the company, he said: “I’m excited to be joining Cromwell Polythene at a time of great change and growth for the company. I also relish the challenges and opportunities that are being presented to the industry as we work together on an ambitious set of targets, doing our bit to help the capture and containment of waste resources, as the UK works towards a more circular economy.”
Axion expands sales teams
Axion Polymers is expanding its sales and business development teams across both its Manchester sites in response to “rising demand” for recycled polymers.

Commercial operations manager Laura Smith is now overseeing the sales and business development functions. She also shares responsibility for business development for the polymer products from Salford with Mark Keenan, business development manager.
Sales and logistics manager Amy Stiven heads up sales of all products, which includes high-grade Axpoly polymers, SRF and aggregates.
Taking charge of technical development for polymers is process development engineer Pasika Chongcharoenthaweesuk, while commercial coordinator Martina Verescakova manages the duty of care checks for materials from Axion’s advanced processing plant.
Transport and weighbridge coordinator Sam Mahoney looks after new business for SRF, aggregates and other materials, as well as looking after existing customers.
CHC recruits Jeremy Green
CHC has recruited Jeremy Green as national accounts manager
CHC Waste Facilities Management has marked the start of 2019 by recruiting Jeremy Green to the new role of national accounts manager.
Mr Green joins CHC from Smurfit Kappa Recycling UK where for 20 years he held operational, project and commercial management roles.
Working with national and international companies across a wide range of industries, CHC said it helps its clients to remain compliant whilst reducing levels of waste sent to landfill year on year.
Speaking of the appointment, Sam Campkin, sales director at CHC, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Jeremy on board. He has a wealth of experience and a solid skillset which we know will be pivotal to supporting our ongoing relationships with both existing and new clients. This new appointment reflects CHC’s drive for continuous growth and demonstrates a commitment to our nationwide client base.”
APEAL appoints new president
APEAL, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging, has appointed Tony Waite, sales director packaging at Tata Steel Europe, as president.
APEAL has appointed Tony Waite as its new president
Mr Waite was elected by the board and general assembly of APEAL and succeeds Stéphane Tondo of ArcelorMittal.
Mr Waite has been sales director for Tata Steel Europe’s packaging sector since January 2015.
He joined Tata Steel in 1999 and has held a number of commercial roles within the organisation looking after original equipment manufacturers from industrial packaging, radiators, domestic appliances and automotive tiers.
Prior to his current role, he was regional head for EIMEA based out of Dubai where he looked after Tata Steel operations in the region and was responsible for all the sales of products into the region from both the European and Indian operations.
