West Midlands Police has confirmed that it is searching an area of the Poplars Landfill Site in Cannock, in relation to the “possible death” of a worker at a nearby site operated by Timmins Waste.

The Police say they are searching the Biffa-owned landfill site after enquiries led them there when investigating the possible death of a 29-year-old Timmins worker.
West Midlands Police say they were alerted to the incident after receiving a call on September 15 from the man’s mother who was concerned her son had not returned from work.
‘Industrial incident’
According to the police, it is now believed he may have died as a result of an “industrial incident” at the Timmins Waste site, although his body has not yet been recovered.
In a statement, Biffa confirmed that the search is taking place “following the delivery of material by a third party to our site on Sunday 16th September”.
The police also said it is working with the Health & Safety Executive to understand what happened.
When contacted by letsrecycle.com, Timmins Waste declined to comment.
A Biffa spokesperson said: “Biffa can confirm that, at the request of the Police, we are facilitating a search at our Poplars Landfill site in Cannock. This follows the delivery of material by a third party to our site on Sunday 16th September.”
Timmins Waste Services Ltd describes itself as a family run business offering skip hire and recycling services, and is based in Wolverhampton.
