Marsden launches waterproof waste scales

UK weighing scales manufacturer, Marsden, has launched a range of scales with IP68-certified protection from water.

Marsden has launched a range of waterproof scales for the waste management sector

The range includes waterproof scales suitable for weighing waste materials throughout the waste and recycling process, the company said.

An IP68 rating means the scales can cope with water, dust and being washed down after use.

Marsden’s managing director, Richard Black, said: “A huge number of industries depend on waterproof equipment. Now, the waste management industry can benefit from a range of scales that are tough enough for a waste management environment, and last year after year.

“There is very little like it on the market – and even less at this price.”

Parry & Evans invests in Bollegraaf Baler

Family-run recycling firm, Parry & Evans, has invested in a Bollegraaf HBC 120 Baler.

The business processes materials such as cardboard, plastic and office waste through to newspaper, pamphlets and best white grade one paper. It has recycling centres in Deeside and Welshpool.

The company said it chose the HBC 120 Baler in order to increase its processing rate and offer its recycling services to a wider range of customers across Wales, the Midlands and the North West of England.

Parry & Evans said it hopes to achieve a processing rate of 3,000 tons per week. The equipment will bale sorted paper and cardboard.

The Baler’s variable frequency drive enables it to run at a low RPM, so it can default to standby mode after 180 seconds, when not being used. This offers savings on energy costs, the manufacturer said. It also has pre-press flap which offers 30-40% more capacity, producing more compact, heavier, easier to stack bales, the company said.

Lee Evans, operations director at Parry & Evans, said: “The HBC 120 has a great pedigree and it’s efficient, energy-saving benefits mean that we can confidently expand our range of services across the UK.”

JCB supports Grand Prix team

A convoy of JCB machines did a 9,000 mile road trip to support the JCB-sponsored team, Williams Martini Racing, at the Monaco Grand Prix, earlier this year.

The four JCB machines included a JCB Teletruk telescopic forklift, which is commonly seen performing in a variety of roles on waste and recycling sites around the world, will offload race components, JCB said.

In addition, a S1930E scissor lift will be used in the construction of a three-story ‘motorhome’ where the drivers’, engineers’ and support staff will be based at the European circuits. Meanwhile, two JCB G150RS generators will generate electricity for the base.

JCB head of sponsorship, Edd Hood, said: “JCB has the perfect range of equipment to support Williams Martini Racing; machines provide the muscle to build the team’s temporary home and generators power it once constructed.”

Claire Williams, deputy team principal, Williams Martini Racing, added: “It’s great to further strengthen our relationship with JCB by using more equipment for our 2018 European race programme. The quality of these machines signifies an understanding of the highest levels of professionalism needed to support all aspects of Formula One.”
