He now fully hands over the reins of the company to managing director Marcus Brew.

Mr Oldfield helped set up the specialist chemical mixing, processing and packaging plant Cod Beck Blenders in the 1980s. He then co-founded a commercial manufacturing plant of waste dispersible granules for pesticides. Established in the 1990s, the Teesside-based Exwold Technologies plant remains operational today and is now a multi-million-pound organisation.

In 1997, Riverside Waste Machinery started out supplying balers and shredders. However, the company split in 2011 having attracted the attention of waste technology organisation– Austrian headquartered UNTHA. The shredder side of the business became UNTHA UK – a subsidiary of the global brand.

Mr Oldfield has long been a vocal speaker in the waste and recycling industry. Highlights include being a panellist at the Energy from Waste Conference, delivering multiple thought-leadership seminars at RWM, and authoring more than 50 papers for technical journals covering topics ranging from RDF export to redefining waste as a resource.

Tsuji takes over as Hitachi CEO

Katsuhisa Tsuji, chief technology officer (CTO) and a member of the supervisory board of Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) in Zurich, is taking over as CEO of HZI on an interim basis with immediate effect.

Mr Tsuji has been CTO and a member of the board of HZI since 2014. The company said he played a ‘significant role’ in the integration of HZI into the Hitachi Zosen Corporation Group, and focuses on generating synergies between HZI and its parent company.

Mr Tsuji is jointly responsible for the operational and strategic development of HZI. The company said with 35 years’ experience in the energy-from-waste area, Mr Tsuji has an extensive technical background.

The CEO of HZI to date, Franz-Josef Mengede, is leaving the company with immediate effect.
