Recycling Partnership invests in vehicle safety
Crawley-based commercial waste firm The Recycling Partnership has fitted its two latest Mercedes Econic refuse trucks with safety and weighing equipment.

The trucks, with Dennis Eagle Olympus bodies and fitted with Beta Trade bin lifts, are equipped with a cyclist warning system, camera hard dick recording, LED side beacons and a VWS ENVIROWEIGH bin weighing system.
The vehicles have been delivered as part of the RVS RediTruck service, which enables operators to buy commercially equipped refuse vehicles without long lead times.
The installation follows the business’ recent Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) accreditation for high standards in health and safety.

Dunmow expands with four skip loaders
Dunmow Waste Management has grown its fleet with the purchase of four skip trucks from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London in Enfield.

The 3.8 metre wheelbase trucks were ordered as complete units and are fitted with 9-speed manual transmissions, air condition, Bluetooth connectivity and electric and tinted windows.
Based in Chelmsford, Dunmow operates a hazardous waste transfer station as well as a recycling centre for construction and demolition waste, processing around 400 tonnes of material per day.
The business now runs 28 trucks and reported an annual turnover of around £9 million in 2015.
Sam Malins, managing director, said: “The 18 tonne GVW Volvo FL with its 7.7 litre 250hp engine really suits the work we do and the residuals at five years make real sense for the business. Furthermore, the latest day cab really helps to minimise the overall dimensions, which translates directly into improved site access.”

Devon Contract Waste invests in industrial baler
Exeter-based recycling business Devon Contract Waste has invested £326,000 in a new industrial baler.

The new baler, built in Somerset by Middleton Engineering, is capable of baling 100,000 tonnes of waste per year if used to maximum capacity.
The new baler joins the existing plant at Devon Contract Waste’s Envirohub, which is home to sorting equipment for mixed waste – excluding food and glass.
The company plans to operate it on a five-day single-shift pattern, which will double baling capacity from 75,000 to 150,000 tonnes per year.
Simon Almond, managing director, said: By installing the new baler we are not only ensuring that we can effectively fulfill the demands of our waste collection services at the moment, we’re also giving ourselves plenty of extra capacity to expand further in the future as we continue to divert more and more waste from Devon’s landfill sites, many of which are already under severe pressure.”

Matpro Machinery and CRJ Services partner up
Matpro Machinery Ltd and CRJ Services have today announced a new deal, which will see both companies merging to form one of the largest machinery hire and machinery sales companies in the UK.
The merger sees Matpro, a distributor for machinery brands, become the sole distributor for Haas and Steelweld Enviro products, including shredders, across the UK and Ireland.
CRJ Services Ltd, which provides hire equipment to the waste management industry, will continue to be headquartered in Knutsford, Cheshire, with Matpro operating from its existing offices in Scotland.
Plans for additional sites have now been prioritised with ‘particular focus’ on opening a new base in London.
Rob Symons from CRJ Services said: “Our new partnership will mean that both CRJ Services and Matpro Machinery are equipped to offer more enhanced services and to meet customer demands more efficiently.
“With an extension of our spare parts availability and staff resources across a larger footprint, I am confident that we will be able to offer unparalleled service within our industry.”

VEKA Recycling begins 2017 with new fleet
Plastics reprocessor VEKA Recycling has started 2017 with a new fleet of fuel efficient Volvo FH4 and MAN TGL 10.08 trucks.

VEKA Recycling Ltd is a Kent-based PVC-U window recycler and has recently increased pellet and pulver production. It is part of VEKA Recycling Group, Europes largest PVC-U window recycler.
Shane Lloyd, VEKA Recycling’s Transport Coordinator, said: “The vehicles are vital to the service we provide our customers who depend on our reliable and regular collections and deliveries. Better fuel economy, reliable engineering and a great cab for our drivers keep our vehicle fleet meeting the highest standards, and they look great too.”
