Two one-day conferences are set to kick off a programme of live events organised by letsrecycle.com in 2017.
The National Food Waste Conference takes place at the Royal College of Physicians in London on February 23 and will examine the opportunities and challenges that food waste presents across the UK.
The first event of its kind to be organised by letsrecycle.com comes at a time of increasing public interest in the subject of food waste and boasts a packed programme featuring speakers from organisations including Sainsbury’s and Pizza Hut. Delegates will also hear an opening address from Kerry McCarthy, the chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Food Waste and hear a debate on the benefits of food waste redistribution versus recycling.
Offering an opportunity to network and engage with speakers, the conference is open to anyone with an interest in food waste including food processors, organics recyclers, waste management companies, recycling officers, local authorities, supermarkets, retailers, NGOs and charities.
Collection Conference
The Collection Conference meanwhile returns by popular demand on March 29 at Pinsent Masons in London and will take an in-depth look at how to deliver an efficient and effective waste and recycling collection service. Speakers already confirmed include Rebecca Cocking from British Glass and Linda Crichton from WRAP, with case studies from Rochdale and Westminster councils as well as private operators. There will also be lively debate around issues such as reduced frequency of residual waste collections, harmonisation of services, charging for bulky waste services and how to reduce contamination.
The conference is open to local authorities, waste management companies, retailers, businesses and anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the issues facing waste collection today.
